I do not own Inuyasha, Takahashi Rumiko does. Boohoo!!
The vegetation crunched beneath her shoes as she wandered around in the woods, the tall trees shadowing her from the full moon’s glow. Kagome was extremely angry. How could he say such a thing, and like that? She came to a small river; it seemed very peaceful as the water flowed gracefully. With a heavy sigh Kagome sat her self down on top of a rock. She would not shed tears over what was said, it would serve no purpose. She glanced at her wristwatch; it was only eight o clock but it felt much later. Kagome thought for sure she meant more to him than just a detector of shards and that she was pretty useful. Recalling the words stung at her heart “You’re completely useless, why would I want you helping. You can’t do anything right! You and I both know you’re only good for seeking out shards. Once I have them all I won’t need you anymore. Do me a favor, just stick to what you can do and then get out of my life!” He then had jumped up towards the trees and vanished. Kagome shook her head trying to chase away those words. He didn’t want her here. Well that was fine with her. She would repair the jewel since she was the one who broke it and then she would be so gone from this time. Miroku and Sango had tried to tell her he didn’t mean it, that he said it out of worry that she was hurt. She would not listen to them. She had needed to be alone and had left her friend sitting in the village. Now she was sitting here looking out on a stream. “Only a fool would sit out here unprotected,” a menacing voice said from behind Kagome breaking her of her thoughts. She bolted up right into a straight sitting position. She knew that voice, and she knew it was probably the last words she would ever hear. Kagome turned her head slowly. With a gulp of air looked up at Sesshoumaru. “Answer me human,” he said. She really didn’t know what to say but found the words came out pretty easily, “Since when can’t someone just enjoy a quiet evening by a stream?” Sesshoumaru said nothing to her comment; instead he quietly, as if floating on air moved over to the other side of the rock and sat down next to her. He felt her flinch and turned to look at her. “Do you fear me human?” Kagome’s eyes widened, “Well…I…yes,” she answered truthfully. She couldn’t do anything but tell him the truth as his golden orbs were staring directly into hers. “As you should,” and he turned back to look at the stream. “What are you doing out here? Why are you not with my idiot brother and your comrades?” “I just wanted to be alone, is that all right with you?” she was growing irritated with his questions. “Mind your tone,” he said flatly. Out of the corner of his eye he saw her head lower. “You do not hide your emotions well. I can see a great struggle within you.” “You don’t know what you’re talking about,” Kagome said as she too looked out at the stream. “Why are you even talking to me? I thought you hated humans” she wondered why he wasn’t ripping her to shreds by now. He looked at her, a strange faint smile pushed its way out of him, “I do.” Sesshoumaru saw the question in her eyes, “I would like to understand them, imagine my great fortune when you walked into my path.” “Well, what do you want of me then?” “All I want of you is just one night, this night. You will show me all there is to know about being human.” Kagome was confused, “Why?” His eyes narrowed as he glared coldly at her, “That is not your concern, just show me.” She shook her head, “I don’t think I am right for what you want.” “You are exactly what I want.” Her eyes widened in shock, “What about my friends, what about…Inuyasha he’ll come looking for me.” “Are you sure about that?” Kagome felt deflated and tired, “No, but the others might.” “It does not matter what they want or what you want. You will give me what I want.” “How dare you,” she felt her anger burst and jumped to her feet. “You will not tell me what to do.” With an intense growl Sesshoumaru got to his feet, he watched the human girl step back. “You do not have a choice,” he stepped closer to her, “Is it really so difficult for you to give me these late hours of the night to show me what its like to be human? can you not understand that this is something that I must have?” Sesshoumaru backed her up into the base of a tree. “But you could ask any number of humans in the villages near by, why me?” she looked up at him fearfully. “You are…” he glanced about her face and then looked her straight in the eye, “…different, not like the humans around here in the villages. You will be a much better instructor. I can sense it.” “I suppose that if I have to help you, then I must,” Without warning Sesshoumaru’s hand latched onto her wrist and he started pulling her away from the stream. “We will begin now.”
